- Account Information: Email address, phone number (optional), and display name when you create an account.
- Check-In Data: Your daily check-in status, timestamps, and any optional messages you include.
- Voice Memos: Optional voice recordings you choose to create, which are transcribed automatically.
- Contact Information: Email addresses of people you invite as contacts (we do not access your device's contact list).
2.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Device Information: Device type, operating system, and unique device identifiers for push notifications.
- Usage Data: App interactions, feature usage patterns, and check-in completion rates (anonymized for analytics).
- Crash and Performance Data: Technical information to help us improve app stability.
2.3 Information We Do NOT Collect
- Location data (GPS, IP-based location)
- Your device's contact list
- Health or fitness data from other apps
- Financial information
- Browsing history
- Social media data
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide the Service: Deliver daily check-ins to your invited contacts, send reminders, and alert contacts if you miss a check-in.
- Send Notifications: Push notifications for reminders, check-in confirmations, and alerts.
- Improve the App: Analyze usage patterns (anonymized) to enhance features and user experience.
- Ensure Security: Monitor for suspicious activity and protect against fraud.
- Communicate with You: Respond to support requests and send important service updates.
4. How We Share Your Information
4.1 With Your Contacts
When you check in, the following information is shared with your invited contacts who have accepted your invitation:
- Your check-in status (e.g., "I'm OK," "Good day")
- Your optional message text
- Voice memo transcriptions (not the audio file)
- Check-in timestamp
4.2 With Service Providers
We use trusted third-party services to operate I'm OK:
- Firebase (Google): Authentication, database, file storage, push notifications
- Speech-to-Text Service: Voice memo transcription
- Analytics: Anonymized usage analytics
4.3 We Never
- Sell your personal information to third parties
- Share your data with advertisers
- Use your data for targeted advertising
- Share your data without your explicit consent (except as required by law)
5. Data Retention
- Check-In History: Retained for 90 days, then automatically deleted.
- Voice Memo Audio Files: Automatically deleted 7 days after upload. Transcriptions are retained with check-in data (90 days).
- Account Data: Retained until you delete your account.
- Analytics Data: Anonymized and aggregated, retained indefinitely.
6. Your Rights and Choices
6.1 Access and Export
You can view all your check-in history within the app. Contact us at support@imok.app to request a complete export of your data.
6.2 Correction
You can update your profile information (display name, email) directly in the app's Settings.
6.3 Deletion
You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete Account. This permanently removes:
- Your account and profile information
- All your check-in history
- All voice memos and transcriptions
- Your contact relationships
6.4 Revoke Contact Access
You can remove any contact at any time, immediately revoking their access to your check-ins.
6.5 Notification Preferences
You can manage push notification permissions through your device settings.
7. Data Security
We implement appropriate security measures to protect your data:
- Encryption in Transit: All data is transmitted over HTTPS/TLS.
- Encryption at Rest: Data is encrypted in our database (Firebase).
- Access Controls: Only authorized personnel can access user data, and only for support purposes.
- Regular Security Reviews: We regularly review and update our security practices.
8. Children's Privacy
I'm OK is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us at support@imok.app.
